Money-manager-turned-DJ Paul Sevigny is the most recognizable rock and roll deejay in the world. Sevigny, however, took an unlikely path to the deejay booth. An Olympics –caliber sailor and professional skateboarder in his youth, he found his way to Wall Street after college. Four years later, the firm at which he worked closed and Sevigny was left without a job, but with a substantial record collection.
On a whim, Sevigny deejayed a friend’s birthday party and within months he was the darling of New York’s downtown fashion and art scene. Drawing on rock, big band, punk, metal, new wave, and pop influences, Sevigny has been the soundtrack of choice for Hermes, Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, Calvin Klein, the CFDA Awards, Vogue, and GQ. A fixture at film premiers, fashion shows, and gallery openings around the globe, Sevigny also plays at private parties for a bevy of celebrity clients including Katie Holmes, Jerry Seinfeld, Keith Richards, and Anna Wintour.
Sevigny was the owner of iconic New York nightspot Beatrice Inn. He opened his first restaurant, Kenmare, in 2010 to remarkable fanfare and extraordinary reviews. Sevigny has been featured in The New York Times, Vanity Fair, Vogue, Nylon, Purple, and Rolling Stone.
