KIRILL WAS HERE
KIRILL WAS HERE
Biography
Described by MTV as "the most prominent nightlife photographer in America," Kirill Was Here has fast become as recognizable as the personalities that he shoots. Just three years removed from sneaking into parties, New York-based Kirill is now an Internet phenomenon and a fixture at the most high-profile events and nightclubs in the world. Voted Paper Magazine's 2011 Nightlife Photographer of the Year, Kirill now boasts nearly one million followers across his social media accounts.
His eponymous website, kirillwashere.com, takes fans inside the velvet ropes to witness debauchery – often provoked – by Kirill himself at festivals, concerts, nightclubs, and events from around the globe. The site garners over seven million views monthly. Drawing attention from nightclubs typically reserved for international deejays, Kirill has shot and curated branded parties at Haven (Atlantic City), TAO (Las Vegas), LIV (Miami), Pacha (New York), among many other clubs.
A favorite of brands, media companies, and artists for his candid photography and substantial internet reach, Kirill has shot for MTV at Ultra Music Festival, MTV and VEVO at South By Southwest, and toured alongside Tiesto, Steve Aoki, A-Trak, and LMFAO. He has also shot Red Bull Guest House at Ultra Music Festival since its inception. In addition, he has shot events and campaigns for Hennessy, Moet, and Heineken.
His photography and Internet influence have been the subject of extraordinary media attention including cover stories in New York Observer and Resource Magazine and profiles in Playboy, Maxim, Complex, and on NBC’s Nite Talk, and MTV’s Jobs That Don’t Suck. Kirill stars in Showtime’s Dick Wolf-produced docu-series 3AM, which premieres in May 2015.
