Biography

DJ and personality, JaKissa Taylor-Semple, is better known to fans as DJ KISS. Known for her love of fashion and beauty as much as she is for her undeniable musical talent, Kiss has been recognized as an influencer by top media outlets like The New York Times, Elle, and Essence magazines. Her personality, skill, and extensive musical knowledge have made her one of the most in-demand DJs in the country.

DJ Kiss regularly performs at high-profile celebrity events around the country. Most recently she served as the DJ for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ official post-Oscars celebration, the Governor’s Ball, and for the 2016 MTV Movie Awards.

Kiss previously toured with Oprah Winfrey as the official DJ on her 8-city stadium tour, “The Life You Want Weekend”, and for Pharrell Williams as his DJ for several shows in the U.S. and Hong Kong. She frequently spins for Sean “Diddy” Combs for various events and has been personally requested by Prince to deejay onstage at Paisley Park several times. Additionally, DJ KISS provided the tunes for high profile weddings for actor,Matt Damon, and for Star Wars creator, George Lucas.

In addition to her celebrity clients, Kiss has spun her signature mix of soulful, feel-good tunes for a diverse list of fashion, music, and corporate clients including William Morris Endeavor, YouTube, The Hollywood Reporter, Viacom, BET, The New York Knicks, The Los Angeles Olympic Committee, Beats by Dre, Samsung, Tiffany & Co., Alexander Wang, and many others. A fixture on the international nightlife scene, Kiss has headlined at some of the world’s hottest nightclubs in cities including Paris, Milan, St. Barths, St. Tropez, London, Athens, Istanbul, Barcelona, Mexico City, and Zurich.

DJ Kiss is frequently called upon by media outlets for her unique perspective and vast knowledge of music, fashion, and pop culture. ABC's Good Morning America launched their popular “DJ Friday” segment with DJ Kiss in 2012 and she has been the featured DJ on the show countless times. Kiss was also the resident DJ and new music guru on MTV’s pop culture countdown, “The Seven”, where she had her own weekly segment. She has also appeared as a panelist on pop culture shows for VH1 and Fuse and has covered the red carpet as a correspondent at events around the country.

Kiss has modeled in campaigns and in projects for brands such as Gucci, NARS, Marc Jacobs Beauty, Nordstrom’s, Farfetch, Dannijo, Aritzia, and NFL Women’s Apparel. She has been profiled by The New York Times, the New York Daily News, Ebony, Brides, The Huffington Post, and Page Six.
